Stein and Peckham Named MPSF Mikasa Players of the Week

March 23, 2009

Woodland, Calif. - USC senior driver Michelle Stein (Palm Desert, CA/Palm Desert HS) nailed the game-winning goal with 1:58 to play in regulation last Tuesday, as No. 2 USC edged No. 4 Hawaii 7-6 in Honolulu. The second of Stein's two goals would be the lone score for either team in the fourth quarter, breaking the 6-6 tie, and lifting her team to a key MPSF road win. This is Stein's second weekly honor this year, winning the award on Feb. 9.

Woodland, Calif. - California redshirt freshman goalkeeper Stephanie Peckham (Coto de Caza, CA/Santa Margarita HS) combined for 38 weekend saves in just under three complete games (12.67 SPG), as the Bears defeated No. 12 Hartwick, No. 18 Indiana, and Brown at the San Diego State Invitational. In the Hartwick game, Peckham picked up 16 saves in three quarters of action, as only two shots eluded her. She allowed a grand total of five goals on the weekend (1.67 GPG). Peckham also won this award on Feb. 2 this year.
