UCLA improved to 18-0 overall, 4-0 in MPSF, with its second shutout of the season in a 12-0 final at No. 17 UC Santa Barbara Saturday. Up 5-0 at the half, the Bruins put things out of reach in the third period by rolling off five goals. Junior Brittany Fullen picked up six saves in her second shutout, also blanking Michigan 16-0 on Feb. 9. Senior Brittany Rowe nailed the hat trick for UCLA. Up next is MPSF showdown Saturday (Mar. 8) at 3 pm as No. 2 Stanford visits the top-ranked Bruins. UCLA won the Feb. 24 meeting 8-7 in sudden-victory overtime for the UC Irvine Invitational Championship.

STANFORD won a pair of conference home games, 12-9 over No. 7 San Diego State and 12-6 over No. 10 Arizona State. Junior Lauren Silver posted her sixth hat trick of the season against the Aztecs, and followed up with two goals vs. the Sun Devils. The Cardinal heads south to UCSB Friday (Mar. 7), followed by a 1 vs. 2 battle at top-ranked UCLA Saturday (Mar. 8). Stanford was the last team to knock off UCLA, 7-6 in Palo Alto on April 14, 2007, 27 games ago for the Bruins.

USC won two games at home this past weekend, 13-5 over No. 9 Loyola Marymount and 12-4 in MPSF action over No. 14 CS Northridge. The Trojans out-scored the opponents in all eight quarters during the weekend. Eight scored vs. the Matadors, though junior Jordan Anae had two goals in that game as well as against the Lions. Her sister, Tumua, registered nine saves in goal vs. Northridge and 12 vs. LMU. Seniors Veronika Bartunkova and Miranda Nichols scored hat tricks vs. LMU. USC heads north to Cal and Pacific this weekend (Mar. 8-9).

CALIFORNIA improved to 4-1 in the MPSF, 11-4 overall, with a 5-3 win over No. 11 UC Irvine and 13-3 win over No. 13 Long Beach State. The Bears led 8-1 after three periods against the 49ers, as 10 players scored at least once in the contest. Sophomore Darby Anderson recorded a hat trick against the Anteaters, while senior Heather Stuart tallied 18 saves in the cage. She also stopped 11 shots Sunday against Long Beach State and allowed just four goals in seven quarters during the weekend. The Bears host USC Saturday (Mar. 8), in the third meeting of the year, splitting the first two in non-league action.

SAN DIEGO STATE junior Jenna Schuster scored a hat trick at No. 2 Stanford in a 12-9 loss Saturday. The Aztecs bounced back at No. 8 San Jose State with a 9-8 win Sunday. SDSU used a 3-0 fourth quarter to complete the comeback. Junior Anna Gonzales had a game-high four goals including the game-winner with 36 seconds left. Senior goalkeeper Heather Fenske totaled 17 games in the two games. The Aztecs visit UC Irvine Friday (Mar. 7) and host UC Santa Barbara Sunday (Mar. 9).

UC IRVINE took two of three in Northern California with wins over Pacific 20-8 and an upset at No. 6 UC Davis 8-7. Senior Jessica Lewis scored twice in Davis, including once in the fourth quarter. She also scored twice at Pacific, while three Anteaters' delivered hat tricks. 20 goals sets a new school record for one game. Senior goalkeeper Lauren Machanis had 13 saves at Cal. MPSF play resumes Friday (Mar. 7) at home vs. San Diego State.

ARIZONA STATE split two games in Northern California, topping No. 8 San Jose State 7-5 and falling to No. 2 Stanford 12-6. Junior Addison McGrath scored twice in Palo Alto, and became the all-time leading scorer for the Sun Devils in San Jose with four goals. All four strikes came in the second quarter, breaking the record on her second score. She currently owns 139 career goals. Senior Caylinn Wallace posted nine saves in each game. ASU travels to UC Irvine and Long Beach State this weekend.

LONG BEACH STATE won at Pacific 14-7, and fell at No. 3 Cal 13-3 and No. 6 UC Davis 11-3. Senior Dayna Wawrzynski had a game-high four goals vs. the Tigers. Freshman Lauren Sieprath added a hat trick. The 49ers are at CS Northridge and host Arizona State this weekend (Mar. 8-9).

SAN JOSE STATE dropped two MPSF home games this past weekend, 7-5 to No. 10 Arizona State and 9-8 to No. 7 San Diego State. Three players scored twice vs. the Aztecs. The Spartans travel to UCSB and UCLA this weekend (Mar. 8-9) in MPSF play.

CAL STATE NORTHRIDGE fell 12-4 at No. 4 USC Saturday. Sophomore Jillian Stapf collected nine saves. The Matadors return home Saturday (Mar. 8) against Long Beach State in another conference game.

UC SANTA BARBARA lost to No. 1 UCLA in its home opener Saturday, 12-0. Senior goalkeeper Jenny Gonzales stopped seven shots. The Gauchos host Stanford Friday and San Jose State Saturday (Mar. 7-8).

PACIFIC dropped two conference home games, 14-7 to No. 13 Long Beach State and 20-8 to No. 11 UC Irvine. Senior Virginia McConnell led all players with four goals vs. UCI and had three more vs. LBSU. USC visits Stockton Sunday (Mar. 9).

HAWAII was off this past week and does not compete until March 15, when opening a seven-game homestand.

ANAE AND SILVER NAMED MPSF MIKASA PLAYERS OF THE WEEK Woodland, Calif. - USC sophomore goalkeeper Tumua Anae (Newport Beach, CA/Corona Del Mar HS) recorded 21 saves in just six quarters of work in a pair of wins over No. 9 Loyola Marymount and No. 14 CS Northridge. Her 12 saves against the Lions was just one shy of a career-high. The next day Anae allowed just three goals in the conference win.....Stanford junior Lauren Silver (Long Beach, CA/Wilson HS) combined for five goals in a pair of MPSF home wins over No. 7 San Diego State and No. 10 Arizona State. Her sixth hat trick of the season was delivered against the Aztecs, the difference in a 12-9 outcome. The Cardinal improved to 3-0 in the MPSF, setting up the huge battle in Westwood Saturday.
