TAYLOR CUENIN OF UCD MPSF OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

UC Davis junior midfield Taylor Cuenin (Danville, CA) converted all four of her shot attempts for a game-high four goals in Sunday’s high scoring game against Harvard (Feb. 25). She added five draw controls, three caused turnovers, and two ground balls to her stat line. KATY SHARRETTS OF SDSU MPSF DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

San Diego State redshirt sophomore goalkeeper Katy Sharretts (Bel Air, MD) Combined for 28 saves, four ground balls and one caused turnover in a pair of identical 17-12 defeats at No. 21 Denver and No. 20 Colorado. She finished the weekend with a .452 save percentage, posting career-highs of 14 saves each game, which is tied for fourth on the school’s single-game charts. She had one ground ball and one caused turnover at Denver, and a personal-best three ground balls at Colorado. This is Sharrett’s first career MPSF weekly honor. BAILEY BROWN OF SDSU MPSF ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

San Diego State freshman midfield Bailey Brown (Katy, TX) scored her first collegiate goal in the Aztecs’ 17-12 defeat at No. 20 Colorado on Sunday (Feb. 25). She also tied her career-high with four draw controls and collected a ground ball against the Buffaloes. This is Brown’s second career MPSF honor, repeating the rookie weekly award from last week.…

AZTECS BATTLE TWO RANKED OPPONENTS

SAN DIEGO STATE (0-0 MPSF/2-2 Overall) battled hard but fell by an identical 17-12 final at both No. 21 Denver (Feb. 23) and No. 20 Colorado (Feb. 25) this past week. Goalkeeper Katy Sharretts collected career-highs of 14 saves in each game, also good for 2018 MPSF-Highs and tied for fourth-place in single-game school history. Jill Haight totaled six goals, 10 draw controls, five ground balls and two caused turnovers on the trip. She had a career-high four goals vs. Denver to go with a game-best seven draw controls. San Diego State returns home for a four-game homestand, beginning with St. Bonaventure Friday (Mar. 2),

UC DAVIS (0-0 MPSF/1-3 Overall) dropped a 21-14 home decision to Harvard this past Sunday (Feb. 25). Taylor Cuenin had an all-around game for the Aggies-scoring four goals on four shots, picking up two ground balls, causing three turnovers, and winning five draw controls. Kate Fellner tallied 2018 MPSF-Highs of four assists and six points. The Aggies are off until March 8 when Robert Morris visits. Cuenin is the MPSF’s leading scorer with 12 goals, while Fellner leads with nine assists. Ally Deremer has picked up a conference-high 13 ground balls.

FRESNO STATE (0-0 MPSF/2-2 Overall) was last in action on Feb. 19, as the Bulldogs dropped a home game to Vanderbilt, 22-12. Tiffiny Wallace had a hat trick, Mackenzie Wallevand had six draw controls, and Abigail Bergevin caused four turnovers. Fresno State hosts St. Bonaventure Tuesday (Feb. 27) in its lone game for the week. Sarah Bloise leads the MPSF with 15 points (3.75/gm), as does Olivia Mannon on defense with 15 caused turnovers (3.75/gm).
