TAYLOR CHAN OF SAN JOSE STATE MPSF GYMNAST OF THE WEEK

San Jose State sophomore Taylor Chan (Coquitlam, BC, Canada) won the all-around with a career-best 39.025 last Friday (Jan. 26) to help lead the Spartans to a 194.425-191.775 win over Sacramento State. Chan won her first career all-around title in just her third meet competing in all events. She won individual titles on the balance beam (9.750, tie) and on the floor (9.850). Chan also recorded a second-place tie on vault (9.800) and added a 9.625 on bars. She is the MPSF leader on floor with a 9.842 average, second on vault (9.775), and fourth in the all-around standings (38.675). KELLEY HEBERT OF UC DAVIS MPSF FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK

UC Davis true freshman Kelley Hebert (Dublin, CA) tied her collegiate best with a 38.950 all-around during the Aggies’ home opener with West Virginia and UIC (Jan. 26). She finished second on the balance beam (9.800), and tied for fifth on floor (9.775), en route to third all-around. She helped UC Davis to season-highs on vault (48.575) and beam (48.825). ANNA SALAMONE OF AIR FORCE MPSF SPECIALIST OF THE WEEK

Air Force sophomore Anna Salamone (Bayport, NY) claimed a share of the uneven bars title at 22nd-ranked BYU last Friday (Jan. 26). Salamone scored a career-best 9.875 to tie for first, a personal improvement of 0.050, and the second-straight week bettering her score on the event. Salamone also was the Falcons’ top scorer on the vault, as she posted her second-highest score of the season with a 9.725. CHAN WINS FIRST CAREER ALL-AROUND; BROWN SETS AGGIE RECORD

SAN JOSE STATE won its home opener over MPSF rival Sacramento State last Friday (Jan. 26), 194.425-191.775. Kaprece Nadonza won the vault with a career-best (9.825). Katie Won took the uneven bars title (9.85), shared the win on balance beam with Taylor Chan (9.75), and placed second all-around (38.975). Chan added a victory on floor (9.85), and for the first time, the all-around with a career-high (39.025).

UC DAVIS placed second (194.200) in a home-opening tri-meet with West Virginia and Illinois-Chicago (Jan. 26). Alexis Brown tied for second on vault (9.80) shared the uneven bars title (9.85) and won the balance beam outright (9.85), en route to the all-around victory (39.250). She now has 11 career all-around meets of 39 or higher, breaking the program record previously set by Katie Yamamura in 2013. Kelley Hebert took second on beam (9.80), leading to a career-high tying and third-place all-around (38.950).

SACRAMENTO STATE Kendra Braida shared the balance beam win with two Spartans in a dual at San Jose State (Jan. 26), in which the Hornets totaled 191.775. Caitlin Soliwoda tied for second on vault (9.80), tied for third on bars, and finished third all-around (38.825). Courteney Ng was runner-up on bars (9.725) and Annie Juarez took third on floor (9.775).

AIR FORCE Anna Salamone tied for the uneven bars title with a career-high 9.875 at No. 22 BYU (Jan. 26), as the Falcons totaled 192.700 in the dual. Mariana Murphy recorded 9.80 on beam and 9.775 on bars. Cam Barber scored 9.750 on beam in her collegiate debut.

SEATTLE PACIFIC totaled 190.725 for a second-place finish at home (Jan. 26) against Lindenwood and UW-Eau Claire. McKenna Zimmermann was third on vault (9.75) and second all-around (38.225). Sienna Brane shared second on bars (9.70), while Lena Wirth took sole possession of second on vault (9.775). Darian Burns finished third all-around (37.950).

ALASKA-ANCHORAGE was off last week, and hosts Air Force and Sac State Saturday (Feb. 3). Kendra Daniels won the balance beam title (9.675) at Illinois State last in action (Jan. 21), as the Seawolves totaled 186.150. Kaylin Mancari recorded a career-high 9.75 to finish second on floor. Daniels and Isabelle Fox tied for third on floor (9.725), while Fox was runner-up in the all-around (37.725). Isabella Scalapino had consecutive team-highs of 9.625 (at Lindenwood) and 9.65 (at Illinois State) on vault in her collegiate debut.
