Scott Davidson becomes the first UCLA men's water polo player to earn MPSF Player of the Year honors since 2000, when Sean Kern earned the conference's top honor. Davidson enters the 2009 NCAA Tournament as UCLA's scoring leader with 42 goals in 28 games (1.50 GPG). The senior from Seal Beach, Calif., has scored in 22 of the Bruins' 28 contests, having registered 15 multiple-goal performances. Davidson scored a season-high four goals against No. 1-ranked USC on Nov. 7 before adding two goals in each of the Bruins' first two MPSF Tournament victories (Pepperdine, USC). He currently ranks fifth on UCLA's career scoring list with 147 goals in four seasons.

2009 MPSF Newcomer of the Year GORAN TOMASEVIC • #2 • Freshman • Center-Back • PACIFIC
Goran Tomasevic finished his freshman campaign appearing in 26 games while recording 37 goals, 14 assists and 41 steals. He is fourth in goals and second in steals on the team. Tomasevic was the leading scorer for the Tigers against Bucknell (3), UCSB on Nov. 8 (3) and Nov. 29 (3), and USC on Nov. 27 (4). His four goals against USC at the MPSF Tournament was his new single-game high. He led the Tigers in goals at the conference tournament with nine. Tomasevic finished the year with a1.42 goals per game average and a 37.0 scoring percentage.

Fifth-year head coach Marc Hunt led UC Irvine to a 17-12 record in 2009, including a 2-1 mark in the MPSF Tournament. The Anteaters lost by just one goal (6-5) to No. 3 seed California in the quarterfinals, which reached the tournament's championship game, before defeating UC Santa Barbara (12-9) and Pepperdine (14-8) to claim fifth place. A two-time All-American at UCI, this is the second time in the past three years that Hunt has been voted MPSF Coach of the Year. In 2007, he was named to the MPSF All-15th Anniversary team.
