Woodland, Calif. - Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Commissioner, Al Beaird, announced today that UCLA Men's Head Water Polo Coach Adam Krikorian is receiving a public reprimand for confronting a game official at the official's hotel after losing in overtime to UC Irvine during the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Men's Water Polo Championship Tournament on November 23, 2007. Krikorian is also being suspended for the first two conference games of 2008-09. "Confronting officials in any manner at or away from a competitive venue absolutely cannot be tolerated in intercollegiate athletics," according to Beaird. "The coach-official relationship is fragile at best, but to pursue things to this extent goes beyond the bounds of reasonable conduct and the spirit of sportsmanship. The Federation cannot allow conduct by any coach that even suggests intimidation of an official." |
