Junior Justin Davis converted his first goal of the year in the 68th-minute, assisted by freshman Michael Green. Sophomore goalkeeper Eric Staver recorded six saves in the shutout. No. 24 UNM was edged by Cal Poly, 2-1, Sunday, and heads to the Husky Invitational in Seattle against Portland Friday and Washington Sunday. SACRAMENTO STATE (5-0-1 overall, 0-0-0 MPSF) made it six straight without a loss in shutting out Menlo, 2-0, and St. Mary's, 1-0 at home this past weekend. Senior Blake Nunes knocked in the game-winner in the 34th-minute Sunday against the Gaels. Freshman Brian Oliver notched his fourth shutout in his fifth career game as a Hornet goalkeeper. Sac State, who has allowed only one goal in six games this year, heads to Cal State Northridge Sunday (Sept. 21) for its lone game of the week. DENVER (2-3-0 overall, 0-0-0 MPSF) nailed its first two victories of the year this past weekend, taking down San Diego State, 2-1, and Cal State Fullerton, 4-1. Sunday, the Pioneers jumped on the Titans early, scoring three goals in the first 38 minutes. Seven different players tallied either a goal or an assist, while sophomore Joe Willis came up with five saves in the cage. Junior Collin Audley recorded an assist in this game, and scored both Denver goals vs. the Aztecs. A trip to No. 9 St. Louis is the lone contest this week on Saturday (Sept. 20). UNLV (4-2-0 overall, 0-0-0 MPSF) split its weekend home games in the UNLV Nike Invitational, coming up short against Gonzaga, 2-1, followed by a dramatic 2-1 double-overtime triumph over Oral Roberts. The Rebels trailed ORU for the majority of the day, before senior Lamar Neagle nailed the equalizer with less than five minutes to go in regulation. Sophomore Daniel Cruz then scored his first-ever golden-goal in the 107th-minute for the win. UNLV takes on San Francisco and St. Mary's this weekend, both to be played at USF. SAN JOSE STATE (2-1-1 overall, 0-0-0 MPSF) edged the University of San Francisco, 1-0, in double-overtime last Wednesday, snapping a four-game losing streak to the Dons. Junior Nick Cukar scored the game-winner in the 105th-minute, assisted by sophomore Ricky Dorrego and senior Hiroki Akiyama. The Spartans dropped their first road game of the year, 2-0 to No. 29 UC Davis Sunday. Cal Poly (Wednesday) and Seattle (Sunday) visit San Jose this week. AIR FORCE (0-5-0 overall, 0-0-0 MPSF) fell by a count of 2-0 to both Cal State Fullerton at home and San Diego State, in Denver, over the weekend. The Falcons travel to Birmingham, AL, for a pair of neutral site contests this week, facing service-academy rivals Navy on Friday (Sept. 19) and Army on Sunday (Sept. 21).
