MPSF Posts Wins Ahead of Winter Cup

No. 1 OKLAHOMA won a tri-meet at Iowa (Feb. 10), defeating No. 5 Minnesota and the host No. 11 Hawkeyes with a 427 total. The Sooners have surpassed 425 in all four meets this year. Yul Moldauer took the all-around title for the second straight meet (87.600), backed by a floor victory (14.850), as well as rings (15.100) and parallel bars (tying his own NCAA-high 15.500). He has 10 total event titles in just four meets this year. Allan Bower brought home the vault title with a NCAA season-high 15.200. The Sooners best team event came on vault (74.800), winning that team title with a 2017 NCAA-high. Team competition breaks this week for the Sooners and each MPSF team for the annual Winter Cup in Las Vegas, NV (Feb. 16-18).

No. 2 STANFORD tallied 422.250 to claim the inaugural Pac-12 Invitational title in Berkeley last Saturday (Feb. 11), ahead of host California, Arizona State and Nebraska. The Cardinal remained perfect in team event titles while adding its third-straight 420+ team score. Robert Neff claimed his first all-around title of the year with a career-best 84.650, delivering a season-best high bar along the way (14.950) to finish second. Akash Modi won his first high bar title of 2017 (15.050), helping the Cardinal to a season team-high 70.250 on the event. Josiah Eng won the rings title (15.200).

No. 8 AIR FORCE swept the individual event titles and claimed its seventh straight Academy team title (Feb. 11), defeating No. 11 Navy 405.800-394.200 at the All-Academy Championships in San Antonio, TX. Tim Wang won five titles, en route to a winning all-around of 85.350. He won the pommel horse (14.600), still rings (14.850), vault (14.550), parallel bars (career-high 14.200) and high bar (13.850), while Ryan Girouard completed the Falcons sweep with a 14.150 on the floor.

No. 10 CALIFORNIA hosted Stanford, Nebraska, and Arizona State this past Saturday (Feb. 11), placing ahead of the Sun Devils. Yordan Aleksandrov posted the parallel bars title (14.550). Aaron Mah was second on floor (14.700) en route to placing second all-around (81.500). The Cal vault squad set a season-high 70.800, as did the floor team (70.350).
