HAWAII women kicked-off its season with a double-dual win at CSU Bakersfield (Oct. 28), over CSUB and Idaho, and a dual at UCSB (Oct. 29). Ivy Houser and Madison Stahman each recorded one and three-meter zone-qualifying dives. Franziska Weidner had wins in the 400 medley relay, 100 back (55.81), 200 back (2:01.90), 100 fly (55.61), 100 free (50.36), and 200 IM (2:01.98) through the two meets. Lucas Cooperman had a zone qualifier on the men’s one-meter.….Olli Kokko swept the men’s breaststroke events against both UCSB and CSUB.

UCSB women won at Cal Poly, 160.5-133.5 (Oct. 28). Emily Boggess won the 200 free (1:53.46) and 500 free (5:00.45); Heaven Quintana won the 100 breast (1:04.14) and 100 fly; Jacquelyn Harris won the 50 free (24.02) and 100 free (51.97); and Elena England won the 100 back (57.58) and 200 back (2:02.55).UCSB men took a narrow decision at Cal Poly, 150-144, along with a dual win at home over Hawaii, 141-112. Yoessef Tibazi recorded an MPSF No. 1 time with a ‘B” cut in the men’s 100 fly (48.08) vs. Cal Poly. Billy Mullis won both backstrokes in each meet.

CAL POLY Brian Whittington won two events against the UCSB men with career-bests and top-50 nationally-ranked times, 55.95 in the 100 breast and an MPSF-best 2:01.93 in the 200 breast…Amelia Feick won the 200 breast (2:19.91) for the Mustang women.

PACIFIC hosted the Pacific Invitational (Oct. 27-28), where the women took first over Fresno Pacific, BYU, and San Jose State. Angela Gagliardo finished first with MPSF No. 1 times in the 200 IM (2:04.78), 200 Breast (2:18.78, and 400 IM (4:23.59)...The Tiger men took second (726) behind Denver, and ahead of BYU, Stanford, and Fresno Pacific. Stewart Harrison contributed to two first-place relay finishes (200 medley, 400 medley) and two second-place relay finishes (200 free, 400 free), and finished top-five in two individual races (50 free, 100 free).

BYU men and women each took third at the Pacific Invitational (Oct. 27-28). The men compiled 540 points, ahead of Stanford and Fresno Pacific. The women totaled 702.50, ahead of San Jose State. Preston Jenkins posted an MPSF-best 1:38.63 in the 200 free, 1.48.68 in the 100 back, 1.52.37 in the 200 IM, and had a 45.1 lead off in the 100 free… Kelly Hatanaka for the Cougar women had a 58.91 in the 100 back, 4.28.11 in the 400IM (third-place), 2:08.29 in the 200 back and a 2:08.22 in the 200 IM (second-place).

UC DAVIS defeated Loyola Marymount 200-60, as well as San Diego, 137-123, in a double-dual at LMU (Oct. 29). Kristin Schumann took part in two of the Aggies’ five total wins, competing on the first-place 200 medley relay (1:46.99) and winning the 200 breast (2:23.15).

SAN DIEGO split a double-dual at Loyola Marymount, defeating the host Lions, 177.5-84.5. Dani Taylor was a double-event individual winner in the 50 free (23.99) and 100 free (51.69, MPSF No. 1), while also anchoring the first-place 400 free relay (52.39).
